I just got back from there a few hours ago after having dinner and drinks with a friend. We shared a Romana pizza that completely blew me away. It didn't have any sauce on it. The base was cheese (fontina I think) and it had fresh arugula (rocket) and paper thin slices of prosciutto on top. A marriage made in heaven. The crust was chewy with a crisp crust, the cheese provided a welcome tang, while the peppery arugula may have been dressed in the slightest of vinaigrettes and the meaty,salty prosciutto brought it all together.
When I make pies at home, I rarely put red sauce on them. This pie tonight was exactly what a pie should be (for me anyway). It looked great (sorry, no camera this evening) and just got better with each bite. It's located on Stone Street in the Financial District of Manhattan.
