quote:Originally posted by LegalLady Hmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm were those made in China too. I am beginning to think China wants to destroy us and take over the country LL No, LL, if you read the full text of the article, there is no indication that these came from China. It looks like it amounts to a good old-fashioned screw-up on the part of a Wisconsin canning plant, in the same way that Castleberry's Georgia plant screwed up recently. And, these are not necessarily the "no-name" beans that were referred to in another post. If you look at the list of brand names, some well-respected grocery companies (Schnuck's, Kroger, Albertson's) chose to have their green beans produced by this particular canner. It all just goes to show that, while products from China do seem to be unusually hazardous, some US-based companies are not exactly paragons of good business practices either. Whether these problems stem from greedy CEOs who want to cut corners, managers who don't properly supervise, or employees who don't conscientiously do their jobs, these worksite problems clearly exist in our own country, sad to say. And, the name on the label frequently bears little relationship to the quality of the contents, as this story indicates.

Seems nothing is safe anymore..... Fresh, canned, although I usually buy frozen or fresh depending on the item.. Some things have to be bought canned.

Luckily this manufacturing error happened during peak harvest season. Most folks are eating garden fresh ones right now!
