The Shack, East Lyme, Connecticut

I don't know if it's reflected on the review listing, but The Shack has moved. It's now a couple hundred yards further north (farther from I-95), on the same side of Flanders Road as previously, in a small strip mall just before Flanders Four Corners. I only stopped for a piece of cake, but other than the new surroundings everything else seems the same as the old place.

That's a shame. I know that strip mall. Is there more room inside in the new place, or is it the same size as before. And why in the world did they move -- what with all the parking that was available.

There is certainly more room inside. I'm not sure how the seating #'s compare, but things aren't cramped together like before. The setup is similar to the old place; the counter is in the back, and there's a half-wall between that and the main seating area. Given that, and the fact that I was concentrating on an excellent piece of chocolate cake, I didn't take away a full impression of the new seating capacity compared to the old. The New London Day has some coverage of the move on its website archive, if you want to pay $2.25 per article.

I just got off the phone with my daughter in Phoenix who used to live just up the Post Road from Flanders. She was most unhappy to hear about the move.
