 Secret sauce

Anyone got a recipe for a killer secret sauce for burgers that doesnt have mayo in it, Sour Cream ok, no mayo though.

    Wow! No mayo? Well, If you subsitute sour cream for mayo, add a little ketchup and some sweet or dill relish for "secret sauce". I like to add a drop or two of liquid hickory smoke for a "hickory burger".

      Mexican crema, relish, and some Pico Pica bottled sauce.

        cream cheese and salsa, heat a large jar of chunky salsa but dont bring to a simmer, add in about half a block of cream cheese and stir to melt/combine. can also be made with sour cream instead of cream cheese

        One bottle of favorite BBQ sauce, one container of sour cream, sweet or dill relish, minched jalapenos, minced onion, garlic

        Hummus.. I have no idea how to make it but its great with a lamb burger so is a basil/mint pesto

        add any favorite salad dressing to sour cream or a combination of dressings, add in sweet or dil relish, onions, peppers etc etc

          I like blue cheese sauce mixed with wing sauce on burgers.

            I cringe at the thought of ruining a hamburger by putting some sort of sauce on it.

              Wow............I put a "Horsey" type cream sauce on mine quite often.

                Are you against all toppings or just thick fluid-like ones? No toppings and you just have a meatloaf sandwich. Neither you nor my mom will make me like those.

                    I'm against sauces on good burgers. You want mustard? Fine. Relish? Fine. Mayonnaise? Fine. Heck, I don't even object to others putting catsup on a burger, although I'd never do such a thing myself.

                    That said, I have no intention of, nor any interest in, trying to make you like anything. As to what your mother might wish to do, well, that would be between you and your mother.

                      That's where we are seeing things differently. I would say even catsup is basically a sauce. And the rest, but for the relish, the same. But if you are only looking at more elaborate condiments for the title, then we are not talking about the same thing.

                      As for me, I like pickles, but really see no difference between saying that and someone saying I like bbq sauce. It all hides/enhances the meat in some way that really isn't unique to certain toppings.

                        Hummus

                        2 16 oz cans of chick peas (garbonzo beans) rinsed and drained.
                        9 cloves of garlic or 4 tsp (heaping) minced
                        2 tsp salt
                        2 tsp black pepper
                        3 Tbsp tahini (sesame paste)
                        1 Tbsp olive oil
                        2/3 cup of ReaLemon lemon juice

                        The tahini I buy at Publix is settled out and requires stirring. Take a tip from me, use a screw driver and allow some time.

                        Toss everything in the food processor and let it rip. We like it smooth.

                          Years ago (decades, actually) Elephant & Castle in Greenwich Village used to serve thick hamburgers with a "secret sauce" composed of sour cream and curry powder. On English muffins.

                          Odd as it sounds, it was pretty good.

                            "Two All Beef Patties, Special Sauce, Lettuce...."
                            Made millions for Mickie Dee's. Mainly a Thousand Island Salad dressing copy.

                            Then there was the "3 D Sauce" at Howard Johnson's. Used on their version of what to become the Big Mac in other places, It was more of a Mustard,Catsup,Mayo,Relish combination.

                            Those are two that I can recall that were used for a very long time by a LOT of people.

                              The Ho-Jo sauce was very similar to the Big Boy restaurants sauce on their aptly-named "Big Boy Burger." I liked this better than the McD's Big Mac sauce.

                                I went to a cookout the other day, the "house" topping was a sundried tomato and creamcheese mix (oil packed tomatos) it was good enough to be used as a dip!
