I just joined the AZ BBQ Association. I think Desert Dog joined a month or so ago. Sounds like a fun group. We are having our Annual Pig Roast this coming Sat & Sun 10/27-28 on a ranch near Tucson AZ. Guests are invited. If any of you fellow Arizonaians or nearby states BBQ Lovers are interested in going, please email me and I'll send the details to you. Saturday includes building the Pit, drinking beverages supplied by the Tucson Home Brew Club and Deep Frying Turkeys. I'll be cooking one of those. Sunday is the Pig Roast. Turkeys served around 5 on Sat and the Pig wil be served around 2PM on Sunday.

I spend just about as much time there these days as I do here!

For Road-Foodies, I recommend Honey Bear's BBQ on Van Buren St near 48th St in East Phoenix. There are several satellite locations but the BBQ is cooked here. The atmosphere could be described as "quaint," but the food is good.
Joe's Real BBQ on Gilbert Ave in Gilbert AZ, East Valley for those familiar with the Phoenix area, can also be recommended. Good food (cooked on-site) and quick service.
