Ice cream sandwich...

Does any one know how the "cake" part is made. I've always wondered and I have never seen anything similar on anyother product. Also anyone remember the icecream cakes from the 60's? The chocolate cake rolled around vinilla icecream.

I always thought the "cake" part was a cookie. The moisture from the ice cream and the freezing process softened the cookie to a cake like state. I may have seen this on Food Network Unwrapped show.

I think chocolate brownie mix spread very thinly over a sheetpan is a close solution. Use parchment paper under the batter.
