British throat drops

Trying to remember a British import from the 80's. All I can recall is that they were
Blackberry flavored, came in as I said, a hinged tin, were about the size of Pine Brothers
cough drops, and had a hard texture which melted to a soft, chewey consistency when placed
in the mouth. Anyone have a clue? They were usually only available at specialty department
stores and some selected drugstores.

My suggestion would be to google British Foods and then check out all the sights..

I do....I used to eat them like candy. They had more than blackberry flavor, IIRC. If we are thinking of the same thing (and my memory is holding up), they were made my Callard and Bowser, which is the same company that makes Altoids.

I used to eat them like candy as well. I read recently that all Callard and Bowser products were discontinued.

I believe that there is a distinction between the 100+ year old company in the UK that is the origin of the Callard and Bowser name. Here in the states, I believe they are a subsidiary of one of the major candy players (Wrigley, maybe?). I just bought a new tin of Altoids last week and there is still a C&B logo on the tin.
