Mad Dog's did reopen under new ownership back in 2009 and we ate there this past Saturday prior to a concert at the Overture Center. It's a pretty small place but the food was solidly good, especially the potato wedges and quarter-cucumber pickle spears. It was interesting to see that the Italian sausage is from Johnsonville and not Vienna Beef. And as a completely unrelated aside, the trio Pearl and the Beard puts on a good show!

I trained Brad and Paul, the original owners of Mad Dogs, four years ago. They used the restaurant and three trailers as a spring board to launch their career in the fast food business, by opening the first Sonic in Wisconsin. Mad Dogs has been sold at least twice since it's opening in 2008. Last year, when I was in Madison, Mad Dogs was selling Vienna Beef. CSD

It doesn't show up on the VB website, so apparently not. Who's the primary Italian sausage supplier for Chicago-area hot dog stands?
