Michael Collins Irish Whiskey

I recently tried a bottle of the blended whiskey. I found the taste to lack that peat flavor that is traditional with Irish wiskey. I still prefer the taste of John Jamison. Walt

The bottle of Jameson Irish Whiskey I have in my cabinet has no peat flavor if you are comparing the Michael Collins blended to that. Also Jameson is quite smooth and agreeable but not memorable like the Bourbons and single malt Scotches. My wife will buy a bottle of blended whiskey for her Manhattans she shares with her sisters but I prefer Bourbon neat.

You might want to try a bottle of Connemara - Peated Single Malt. This is a great bottle of irish with a hit of peat smoke.

firecommander, Maybe true with the blends but I would never abuse a Bourbon or Single Malt that way.

So... Why is Michael Collins so much more expensive than Jamison?

Here in NJ, they should be equally priced soon as the Jameson just took another price increase(probably their 3rd in the last year and a half) Collins is brought into the US by Sidney Frank the people who deal with Jagermeister,Tommy Bahama Rum and formerly owned Grey Goose here in the US. They only want SuperPremium products hence the high price. Did you get the reg Michael Collins or the Single Malt one(which is a bit more $$$)?
