Does anyone have the recipe (or a close facsimile) for the Tex Mex rice they serve at Jose Tejas? I could make a meal of that spicy stuff. Also - the Chicken Fajitas? mmmm....hungry just thinking about it!

Sorry...Woodbridge, NJ. I think it's affiliated with "On the Border" - small chain in the northeast

One The Border is here in north Texas but no Jose's. Hard to find spicy Tex Mex rice, even around here. Can you get us the recipe Konczal? I bet you know someone who works there.

The one in Delaware near my office is called Jose Tejas' Border Cafe and we eat there often. I like there jambalaya and red beans and rice but sorry no recipe.

Mike, sounds like Cajun food at the Boder Cafe. I also love good Cajun food! Lotsa recipes for that here at Roadfood. No spicy Tex Mex rice though, I don't think anyway???

Jose tejas is a small chain (2-3 stores-wyane)-and it is not good. Make your own style rice-that is not a good resturant. I went there once-and will not go back again

mike - i was also sort of surprised by the strong affection many of my fellow jerseyites have for Jose Tejas...(i've eaten there on several occasions, and found the food to be really bland, and ordinary...give me La Chalupa in Red Bank or El Meson in Freehold any day!)
konczal - hope you find that rice recipe...

It's been over a year, but I've been to Jose many times and found the food to be good. I don't like the open loud environment of the place but for lunch it was very good. Excellent Fajita's, especially when you ask for peppers with it. Another favorite is the Eggplant Royale(I think) and since it is Tex-Mex the Crawfish Ettouffee and Gumbo are very good. I am surprised since I never heard anyone who didn't like Jose. I know it's not top-end but for lunch or to bring the kids it is good.

All Tex Mex rice I have had at a restaurant was not spicy. I would still like to know about Jose's and what they use to spice it up?

I enjoy the Jose Tejas in Woodbridge. The food is good and consistent, beer is cold and its a good place to meet with friends.

Good Ettouffee and Gumbo are hard to find here in Texas. Hmm, that's Cajun, not Tex Mex.
