I had a bartender at Old Chicago in Tempe mix me a beer "cocktail" once. It consisted of Pyramid Apricot ale and some pear ale. The apricot ale was not sweet but very fragrant and the pear ale was a little sweet with alot of aroma. Quite possibly the most refreshing beer I have ever had. I can't find the pear beer anywhere in Az but I can find the apricot.

        Yes, Miller chill is awful. Dishwater with lime.

        Now, I saw some beer with honey in a deli today. Sound interesting. Maybe.

          Flavored beer can be quite good as long as the flavoring is not too overpowering. I have had some excellent pumpkin ales, coffee tasting beers, raspberry weizens, and Pete's wicked strawberry blonde. Would I drink they all the time? No, but I like these on various occasions as a nice change up from the everyday run of the mill brews.

            It's not terribly exotic, but I'm a big fan of Wachusett blueberry ale. If you order it in a bar there are actual blueberries (a bit shriveled, but okay nonetheless). It's a great summer drink!

              I'm not opposed to flavored beers, my favorite beer is Youngs Double Chocolate Stout. Usually when I think of flavored beers I think of fruity stuff. There's not much fruity beer I like but I would recomend Buffalo Bills Pumpkin Ale. It's brewed and California and isn't overdone. If you can find it, pick up a single and see how you like it.

                I tried the Bud Light Lime this weekend & IMO I thought it was good. Its not exactly a beer that you would drink with a steak, but I had just finished about 3.5 hours of yard work in 90 degree heat & had two with four steamed dogs at the house. I think in that venue the BL Lime works. It also works well as a marinade base for grilled shrimp. A crime to some...but it works.

                I am a big fan of the Christmas brews, especially the Harpoon Winter Warmer. It has a very nice blend of nutmeg & other spices that I enjoy with a slice of lemon thrown in.

                Correct me if I am wrong, but a Shandy I think is referred to as a "Larger Top" in the UK. I could be wrong on that, but I remember (barely) them tasting very good when I was in the UK the summer after college...but that goes back 20+ years.

                The Wachusett blueberry is very good as mentioned earlier...I find that it goes well with BBQ chicken.

                I truly love most beer/ale/brown/stouts and adding flavor is just a metter of taste.
