After reading this thread, I checked my supermarket to see if they still had Ranch Style  Beans. They did, in plenty, but the manufactorers had changed the freaking label! I am so used to seeing the happy face on the can that I would have thought they were no longer there until I read the label. Wish they'd stop doing that. I shop by landmark, not spelling!

I just noticed all my typos in the above post. Obviously, I am not into spelling this morning at least. Kind of odd for a daughter of an English minor.......

I thought Texans didn't put beans in chili. What gives?

Texans eat beans as a side dish.

Momma got a chili recipe from the news paper years ago which i still have that has kidney beans in it.However texans say no beans inthe chili. At H.E.B.  they sell chili grind meat  which      is gorund up  but more   coarsely than hamburger.
They do have a website     and you can contact their corporate office right here in San   Antonio.Maybe  you might get them to ship you a case of Ranch Style Beans. That's what the lable says here. They also have their own brand  of products as well which I sometimes send up to my sister in  New York. They are a big south Texas grocerystore chain and even into Mexico.
