quote:Originally posted by Michael Hoffman When you say slice are you referring to using the side of your fork to cut off pieces to eat, or are you talking about slicing eggs up with a knife? I've never heard of anyone squashing eggs. I use the side of my fork to cut off egg to eat. I'm with you, I have no idea what these people are talking about. And how or why would you slice something so thin ?

I squish them between two pieces of toast with whatever other greasy food is on my plate (bacon, sausages, baked beans, etc) and let the yolk get absorbed by the bread and everything else inside. The only time I'd ever eat eggs with a fork and knife is if it were an omelet.

It would always drive me crazy to watch my dad cut up his eggs with a knife. I mean, c'mon, they're EGGS -- a fork is good enough. Cutting up eggs with a knife is like using a cannon to kill a fly. OK, maybe that's a little extreme ...

It started when my kids were very small and the habit just stuck, I did their spaghetti the same way. It drove my ex crazy because he wasn't coordinated enough to cut with a knife and fork in opposite directions. Maybe I'll just try smashing next time...or not.
