Why do so many posts that have nothing to do with, nor contain, my keyword come up?

I seem to have the opposite problem. I'll search a word I absolutely know exists and it doesn't come up in a search. Also search seems worthless on a multi-page thread. For example the "Pork Tenderloins" thread is 30 pages. If I enter a word I know is in that thread, the search just gives me the thread. I would still have to sift through 30 pages to find it. Bottom line. Google works better. I just tested the word Jurassic. When I searched in Roadfood.com the Pork Tenderloins thread did come up but the trip report on the Minnesota State Fair did not. Then I went to Google and typed in Jurassic Roadfood.com. The Minnesota State Fair thread was at the top of the search and the Pork Tenderloin thread was found and went right to page 14 of 30.

Yep Davy, Google to find stuff here is the answer! John, I bet part of your keyword is there somewhere, maybe? Joe

"Stop searching "boob." That's another site." Now you tell me I'm trying to find an old post on posting pictures using photobucket. Using keyword photobucket and "match exact phrase" brings up a zillion posts not containing that word.

Actually, PJoe, I just Googled the phrase - "Yep Davy, Google to find stuff here is the answer." I know you weren't talking to me, but your post came right up as the top Google hit. So it does work.

PapaJoe, give it a try. Type photobucket into the search feature and see what you get. Thanks

John A, The answer is simple. The search is looking for the word photobucket and is searching text. If a thread has a picture referenced that came from photobucket.com it is going to pick up the embedded IMG encapsulated text that you can't see unless you click on the "Reply with Quote" mini icon for the message. Also, if a message thread is several pages it is only going to bring up the whole thread in a search and not the individual page in the thread. So you might not see or find the word photobucket on page 1 of the thread. It could be on any subsequent pages. In the case of multi page threads the search is useless.

Oh sure Davy gets the credit! I did type in "photobucket" and noticed that every thread had a picture in it, from photobucket. Ok Davy, you DO get the credit cause you explained why. :~) Anyway, the search here s%^&*. Just use Google! Bad search... Great site! Joe

Shame on me PapaJoe I was asleep at the wheel as your response went right over my head. Seems like that's happening more often as time goes by.
