We don't have an official dessert in Virginia, but it ought to be peanut pie! Like peacan pie, but with peanuts.

Well, since New Jersey's (esp. Hammonton)the blueberry capital of the world (and God willing if it doesn't storm as much as they say it will, we'll be at the Hammonton Blueberry Festival tomorrow!), and up there with cranberry production, too...well, something with either fruit. Probably blueberry-something. But if it's listed, it's unofficial.

Which Southern state gets to claim "Red Velvet Cake" as theirs?

I'm not from a state, but the Nanaimo bar was invented about 200km from here. It's totally a dessert I associate with BC.

Caraway Cookie? Never heard of it. I think the NY State Cookie should be the "Black and White" cookie. (Sold in Germany as the "American").

            Blackout Cake = Ebingers.
Nesslerode = somehow I remember that...

Yeah, in Canada we have provinces. "States" sounds weird. In the province of Nova Scotia apple crisp would be the official dessert.

Washington State does not have a state dessert, but we DO have a state tuber ( russet potato ).

I just found out that New Mexico has a State Question.
so help me, I read it yesterday in a tour guide)

The question is: Red or Green?

                  Who gets it?

(hint: easy, it is a foodie question)

Growing up in Iowa as a kid, I would have thought it a (cherry/berry/apricot/poppy seed) kolache. They showed up every church, school, family function my entire childhood. Mom is 100% Czech.

                        Ah, very quick and ker-rect!

Now, NM has chile chocolate (red chile in chocolate bars), chile jam (red or green of course) chile sprinkled over fresh fruit, and many other chile desserts, tho biscochitos (no chile) is still the "official" endorsed dessert...

You'd think NJ being the Garden State, they would "pick" something from the garden, and make a nice dessert.

At most BBQ joints in Texas it's banana pudding laced with Nilla Vanilla wafers!
