I think this is a subject I brought up here once before, some time ago, but never got a good answer to.
My wife and I were recently decrying the fact that there doesn't seem to exist in the Chicago area the type of cakey old-fashioned donuts available in New England. In fact, KK and DD seem to be about the only donut shops I ever see around here. Is this a misconception? Can someone point us in the right direction, if there is one?
