BBQ in Martinsburg, WVa

A semi-portable (it's a building on a big trailer with a BIG smoker) BBQ joint opened in January next door to Wal-Mart and the mall. Between exits 12 & 13 off of I-81 I've eaten there a few times and they do a good job. The family that runs it is out of the Houston, Tx area. They call their joint Texas BBQ. I see that they have opened a 2nd location in Inwwod, Wva. Off of exit 5 ans theb East on 51 about 3/4 of a mile.

Mike, thanks for the tip. What have you eaten there, pork or brisket?

I know I once went to a place called Memphis BBQ in Martinsburg near the mall. It was beyond bad. My wife still talks about the overuse of hickory salt at that place.

There's a reason WV is not known for barbecue. (And this is a proud WV native talking.) That said, if I ever wind up in the Martinsburg area the new place sounds great. Brisket is always a plus.

This guy is the real thing. He has a stack of hickory logs at both locations. I've watched him fire up the off set fire pit and thats all he uses. I'm in the mood for some good sausage, so I think I'll stop by Monday afternoon and get some. Hopefully it'll be good.

Had the sausage, it was darn good. He wouldn't tell me where he gets it from, and he's a Masonic brother too. I took him 3 slices of Santa Maria Tri-Tip last night to try. Haven't been back to see if he liked that or not. MikeS.
