Mother-in-law Sandwich

Over on the Roadfood Digest blog, there is written mention of this sandwich being a Chicago specialty.  It's a tamale on a hot dog roll with chili. This being Chicago, there are some veggies on top. The tomato is obvious, but is that a pickle slice on top? This example is from Fat Johnnie's, 7232 S. Western. I'd try one.
