Where can I find Stouffer's recipes? Thu, 10/23/03 9:12 AM (permalink)
And I'm not talking about the Stouffer's "Nothing comes closer to home" frozen meals of today.
When I was little, my mom used to drag me to Stouffer's restaurant (at the mall, in the Cleveland area) and we'd have things like "chopped sirloin" and French onion soup and corn muffins. I found the food pretty palatable (even then, as a 7 year-old) and am kind curious to see if there is a Web site with recipes, or even copykat recipes (I've already checked the copykat sites!) or if maybe, just maybe, some Roadfooder is a former chef and has the recipes stored in their noggin....

      There is huge, used and rare book store in Detroit called John K. King. Glancing through their cookbook section a few months ago, I noticed a Stouffer's cookbook from the 1950s or 60s. They have a website but I don't remember the address and I'm too computer-illiterate to find it and let you know. Try calling them in late morning or early afternoon at 313-961-0622. {It seems to me that I never see telephone numbers on the Internet. Is this a breach of etiquette?}

        The Cookbook you refer to is The Stouffer cookbook of American food and Drink. It was published in 1973 for the 50th Anniversary of Stouffer corporation by Random House. It is often available on e-Bay, but be forwarned it utilizes a lot of SFPF and does not have the depth of the Original Recipes.
