Hot Dogs in DFW Wed, 07/16/08 6:16 PM (permalink)
Hello y'all,

Yes, I'm a native Texan. Can someone recommend Mom/Pop hot dog places in the DFW area? I love Coney Island and Polish sausage hot dogs. There used to be a great hot dog place in Dallas, but it closed years ago.

Thank you!

C.

I definitely wouldn't call myself a hot dog connoisseur but Wild About Harry's, which is listed on the site Xfireguy provided, had very good dogs and outstanding custard. I don't know what kind of dogs they sell but take a look at the menu to see the different versions...

I've been in Dallas about 43 years. Sorry, but Dallas is just not a "hot dog" city. "Wild About Harry's" on Knox Street is going to be about it. If you like their dogs, stick with them. Their custard ice creams are very good too. That's the best this ex-New Yorker can recommend.

I've checked out this website. The only credible hot dog place I can see in Dallas is, 'Wild About Harry's".

For some reason Good Hot Dog places close as fast as they open in the Metroplex. As Twinwillow stated Dallas is just not a Hot Dog City. I was involved in a place in Addison on Beltline called The Duke of Dogs. It was a great place that got a lot of good press. We had our regulars and always had lines at the Taste of Addison 3 years running, but never had enough business to keep it going.
