Pizza Truck I remember from my youth

In the early to mid 1970's I remember a pizza truck that drove around my neighborhood (in Bayonne NJ). It operated much like an ice cream truck (it took longer to create delicious whole pizza). It took like what seemed FOREVER...but was sooo worth the wait Anyone have similar memories? CC

No such thing as a "pizza truck" when I was growing up on Long Island in the 50's. Just good old, Good Humor trucks.

Yes!!! It was silver with red letters. Back in the day, there were only a couple of pizza parlors in the area. So, this became a treasured memory. I remember sitting outside my house, on Saturday afternoon (driving my Grandmother crazy) waiting for this pizza truck. I am so glad someone else remembers!!! How I wish that truck would drive by, this Saturday afternoon. CC

When I was a little boy I wanted to grow up to be a Good Humor guy on one of those cycle rigs with two front wheels, a freezer compartment, and pedals and a seat behind the freezer. Alas, my father told me that you had to be 16 to get one of those jobs and I figured I'd never live to be that old.

My older sister recalls it was a husband/wife team, that operated the truck. I wish I could track down who it was, and get that recipe!!! Times have changed, so much, since then.

No Pizza trucks in Union City ,NJ in the 50's...Good Humor ..but not pizza...pizza was still rare, even in our Italian neighborhood...and I doubt anything served from a truck would have been deemed worthy!!!!!

Growing up in Texas, the closest thing to pizza we ever had was Pizza Inn. Inconceivable that it could ever come to us on a truck! We did have ice cream and mosquito spraying trucks though. The music of the "Goody Goody Man" always meant that .10 cent cherry popsicles were just around the corner! We would also play "airplane" by following the mosquito trucks on our bikes and darting in and out of the DDT clouds. But I.. ack...turned out.. ack...OK....

I bet the guys driving the mosquito trucks wished they had a great pizza recipe. LOL Especially since they had potential little customers following them.
