Any new attempts at a Nashville hot chicken recipe

I'm from Nashville area, and have been playing at cooking some hot chicken for years. I still can't get anywhere close. I've searched all the previous threads for ideas. Any recent developments? Maybe I'll just give in and drive the 45 minutes to Prince's on Saturday...

I followed the link to Hollyeats. It mentions that the chicken is pan fried and then the heat is added. Is this just a sauce or hot gravy topping? Darn, I lived in those parts for nearly 2 years and never heard of the place. My spouse is Nashville born and bred and never heard of it.
