Dear Fellow Pie Bakers:

We can't believe it’s autumn, which means pie season!

The Fifth Annual Pie Social is September 28th.

Please join us again. This will be the finest Pie Social ever.

Where: Main St & Plymouth Street, Dumbo
When: September 28, 2008
12p.m.-3p.m.

Show off your pie baking skills! Taste your neighbor’s pie-wares. Come and
enjoy a sweet and savory event.


Bring pies and get your tasting tickets for $10

Just come ready to eat!

If you don’t feel like baking a pie, an entry fee of $25 will get you 5
tasting tickets (equivalent to half a pie, so there’s plenty of sharing when
sampling the vast array of pies.)

This event will once again raise money for NYC public schools. Volunteers
from the schools (kids and parents) will help organize and orchestrate the
event.)

With the beautiful vista of the city from DUMBO as a backdrop, it will
certainly be a lovely pie-eating-day. This year’s event will be simultaneous
with the DUMBO Arts Festival.

You were just in a pie event in NYC recently, are there many in NYC? It looks like fun.

Looks like a great event and I wish I could be there. Can we assume you will be participating and will provide us with your typical excellent report?

F-Oyster, not too many here in the city. The competition I was just in was in its first year. Bubby's is the only other one that I know of. I don't think NYC is a big pie town and that saddens me as I'm always in the mood for pie!! The Social is always fun. This will be my third time.

BB, I'll be there, hopefully with a posse of my peeps for support. I look to bring my A-game and also get "pie-drunk" once again this year. It costs $25 to get in (which gives you 5 tickets, each good for one slice of pie). Not the cheapest pie in the world, but it is for a good cause and there are always tons of good, homemade pies to choose from. And the views in the park are wonderful. Depending on how ambitious I am, I may bake 2-4 pies this year. Hightail it up here, my pie-brother!!

Wish I could be there, but I already have plans to be elsewhere. Too bad, since it certainly looks like a worthwhile event. I'm sure you will represent us Roadfooders well and look forward to your report.
