The great metropolis of Anchorage? Where's that? Did I miss something? Can somebody pass me another turkey leg?

Spenard, AK? Seems like that was the name of a lake at the airport? Also thought Spenard was about 50 miles southeast of Anchorage? Paul E. Smith Knoxville, TN

Sundancer, Spenard is a section of Anchorage that has always been famous (or infamous) for being a very seedy section of town. Hookers, strip joints, roudy bars, that became the notoriety of Spenard. It is no longer as bad as it used to be........I was being a smarta** about the "great metropolis of Anchorage". We all rag on Spenard here. And yes, you are so right about Lake Spenard.....in 1940 it was connected to Lake Hood and is the busiest floatplane base in the world.

Fairview is seedy -- we like to think of Spenard as "colorful" -- where do you hang out, lleechef, in Bayshore?

Hey, AD, I guess you could consider Spenard "colorful" since there is no shortage of red, white and blue police strobes flashing!!!! We are deprived of this "color" in the Sand Lake area. And clothier, thanks for your concern about Ms. Chef....but.....well.......yes, this is more hoity toity than Spenard, but I still know of some great strip joints....... Have add them at "ren" fairs, Wild Adventures, and DW. I think they roast them in one of those huge stainless steel jobies, by the rack fulls. I kind of like them myself. And for someone who salts everything even before trying the food, this is one food I can refrain. BTW, ever notice how those cheap napkins stick to your fingers when your trying to "clean up" after digging into one?

Strip Joints in Sand Lake? Now I'm the one who missed something . . . And I find the red-white-and-blue flashing police car lights especially festive, praticularily during the holiday season . . .

Alexander I am always on the look out for new things to cook in my pressure cooker. How do you prepare those turkey legs?

I just salt & pepper them, put some water in the bottom of the pressure cooker, and cook them at 10 lbs pressure for around 35-45 minutes. I eat them just so, but I'm a confirmed basic carnivore. They would make a pretty good turkey salad, provided you use enough mayo to cover the color. I'll have to warn you that the purplish hue makes them look pretty alarming. Also, the skin is pretty sticky.

We had them this summer at Dollywood in Tennessee. They do taste alot like ham hock. I thought they were good. I am sure they are alot better for you than the ham itself. I use alot of turkey products. I use ground turkey for tacos and manwiches. I also buy the pkgs. of turkey legs in the grocery store and roast them in the oven. That makes a good meal with a tossed salad and cranberry sauce.
