Kingfisher Beer, in the northeast US (according to the below linked webpage), is a contract-brew from Olde Saratoga in upstate New York.

http://www.mendobrew.com/company/history.html It's relatively unusual for a beer to exist in a country as both an import AND a locally-brewed contract beer, if by "Northeast US" it means other parts of the US still get Indian-brewed Kingfisher- or possibly Mendocino-brewed Kingfisher? Any label readers know?
Contract-brews in the US have a mixed history- with the long-lived but now discontinued Miller's Lowenbrau the most notorious, of course. They currently started brewing Foster's domestically (after a stint as a Canadian-brewed "Australian" beer), even using the ridiculous dba "Oil Can Brewing Company". Granted, Foster's hardly has the reputation Lowenbrau had/has.
But the interesting trivia about Kingfisher is that, with the shared ownership of Kingfisher and Saratoga, it might be the first time a beer in the US exists in *both* a domestically brewed version and imported version from the same brewing company since Guinness' short-lived NYC area brewery in the late 40's-early 50's.
