Here is a patron's video of Arthur's.

Since it is a local independent restaurant with casual ambiance, reasonable prices, friendly efficient staff, and good food...I would venture to say it is an example of Roadfood in NJ. Taking nothing away from Doe's, of course.

looking at that video, it's not clear if that fella enjoys cheap wine and A1 better than a notable steak.

If I want steak and i'm at 33rd and 6th, it's very unlikely that I'd get on a PATH train, what with all of the great steakhouses right in that area. LOL!

Looking at the video simply provides a picture (as was requested) of one of the places mentioned as far as the "this side of the Hudson" (assumed to mean NJ) topic at hand.

This is Roadfood and I do not see any criteria within the definition of Roadfood that includes expensive wine and the prime steak in Manhattan NJ or anywhere else.

Of course there are plenty of places in NYC and NJ for prime steak fine wine and expensive prices. They might or might not fit the definition of Roadfood but I do believe Arthur's fits the definition.

      A-1 is optional...not mandatory at Arthur's.

If you have any Roadfood suggestions in regard to steak in NJ...we would be glad to hear them.

I wasn't commenting on your decision to post the video.  I was commenting on the video itself ("looking at the video"). And then I was commenting on my preferences if I found myself at 33rd and 6th.  Neither of those things has to do with you, so please don't be offended.

I am not at all offended. It is not my video A-1 or wine.

Someone mentioned seeing pictures. Someone mentioned  a respite from whatever atmosphere assumed to be the atmosphere here...as far as a steak experience.

The mention of Arthur's and the video of the food and atmosphere is merely a way to provide information about the suggestion of Arthur's.

            very good video CC.
I'm sure you could order a more expensive wine if you want.
the A-1 just happens to be on the table
some people just start reading into things without listening to what is being said.

I took a look at some of the other videos by the patron, the photojournalist David Burnett. Another of his clips on Vimeo is of his appearance on Jeopardy 20 years ago. In the 'chat' segment (every episode of Jeopardy had one) he basically said he searches out Roadfood.

Has anyone eaten at the Red Wolf Inn/STeakhouse in Belvidere on 519,seen some interesting reviews on a different site, but was wondering if anyone from Roadfood has tried their steak.

I've eaten there, but never had thier steak. For what it's worth, I really like the place. Great cozy roadside ambiance, and Rt519 is a very scenic drive. Good beer list too, if that's your thing.

I love thier steak sandwich (which if I recall is not on thier dinner menu but they will do it anyway) so maybe the steaks are good too.

PS: Someone mentioned Steve's Sizzling Steaks. I think I posted about this in another thread so I won't go into it again, but that was one of the worst steakhouse (or any other place for that matter) experiences I've ever had.

Thanks Ken8038 for the info on the Red Wolf Steakhouse, sorry to read about your bad experience with Steve's Sizzling STeakhouse, I've been going to Steve's for more than 25 years with my family & friends and in all those visits only 2 people did not enjoy the meal as much as the rest.
