For the past week I could not post messages, reply, check pm, view online messages, even the Roadfood sign in the upper left wouldnt appear clearly, I switched to Google Chrome and have been problem free and my pages load up much quicker.

The recent spate of bugs and issues that have been plaguing this site have been going on for months. People have posting their issues the whole time and not much seems to be getting fixed. So, there is a part of me that feels a bit like I'm spitting into the wind, but here goes...
 
It would appear that one of the side-effects of the duplicate postings is that I am now missing some posts contained within threads. For instance, in wanderingjew's latest trip report, I show six duplicate posts on the first page. I know that each page contains 30 posts. So, I am getting 24 original posts and six duplicates. When I click on Page 2, it would seem from the discussion that I have missed an installment from WJ that others are commenting on. Is it possible that his post is, say, #28 in the thread (counting only original posts), and when one clicks on the second page of posts, that page is slated to begin with original post #31, but for me is lost in the void because the duplicate posts change the post count in the thread?
 
I have tried logging out, clearing cookies and logging back in. That changed nothing.

1st, you are correct in your assessment.  What you need to do is delete your entire friend list.  Which by the way was a major PIA for me because I store phone numbers and other contact info there.  Reload your friends, another PIA.  This should stop you from seeing the double posts. 
 
And if my assessment is correct, which it usually is, this debacle was brought on by a software upgrade that allows this site to cater advertising based on your internet searches.
 
Edit:  Also, if you hit the backspace button, your text gets smaller(see above).

That does, indeed, solve the problem. It is amazing how many work-arounds you have to know to get this site to function properly.
 
As for the issue of ads, while I realize that many web sites derive some revenue from the sale of advertising, were the ads not so obnoxious, I would have never installed AdBlock on my browser. I visit too many pages where the content-to-ad ratio is severely out of whack. Instead, I now enjoy a pleasant Internet browsing experience and don't have to worry about things blinking at me, or taking up 70% of the viewing area....and, if the ad software is targeting me with ads based on my search profile, God bless 'em, because I don't see a one.

In the "Where to Eat" section, the very active "Cincinnati and N.KY." thread reports several new posts but the newest post has been frozen at the one made on 05/8/13 at 2:57 PM. I keep seeing updates for several new posts to that thread, including at least one on 5/15, and the thread view doesn't change. I've tried navigating to the last page using every available means, including clicking through the page number links, and using the "most recent" link arrows.
 
I'm not talking about a post numbering discrepancy or even a duplicate post issue. The problem here is that new posts aren't visible. Yes, I've done the deleting cookies, log in and out, and clearing cache stuff.

I've been seeing a lot of updates to threads on the Roadfood home page that -- when I click on the link -- take me to a thread whose last entry is years old.  If this was a one-time glitch I wouldn't bother to complain, but it's been happening a lot.

I have two glitches to report.
1)  I am following Dale's Seattle trip report.  I made a remark about his amazing dim sum, but it never showed up on the thread.  Then, someone responded to my dim sum comment.  I know because I got the email notification about it and they quoted my comment.  So I know my comment made it; I just cannot see it.  Nor can I see the poster's response to my comment within the thread; I only know about it thanks to the email.  Now the plot thickens....I received an email indicating another installment from Dale on his Seattle post.  But I cannot see that either!  It is like I can see three pages or part of three pages, then nothing.
2)  I have also noticed that several people - including me - show double posts when posting or responding to a thread.  I remember when this happened not too long ago, but I thought it was not an issue any more.
I hope you can help with these matters.

Now I have so mething to add.  It has to be my computer at  home.  I am easily able to see all the posts form my work machine; and no duplicates either!  That's funny since my home machine is new and more up-to-date.  Anyway, if you know of what settings might cause problems for a Windows 7 machine, please let me know.  I am sure it is only a matter of pushing the corrrect button somewhere.  Thanks!
