Baskin/Robbins regional flavors

 Since it is getting "warm" today in NYC (34 degrees!) we just went over to Baskin Robbins. 2 comments:

1. So they new special "flavors" being offered are "Churned" (ie - vanilla, chocolate or raspberry with lower calories). I didn't try it, but was curious. Has anyone tried it?

2. In looking the above up on the web, I found B&R's site. It has some cool stuff, most interesting:

I'm a frequent visitor of the local BRs.  Different shops here have different prices on their scoops!

When in New Orleans a few years ago I had to have a lemon flavor that I'd never seen before or since.

I'd be very happy if they brought back:

Mandarine Chocolate Sherbet
Espresso Coffee

My standards are:

Jamoca Almond Fudge
Mint Chocolate Chip
Rocky Road

And...

Baseball Nut when they have it.

I do sway once in awhile and have some sort of cheesecake flavor.

I keep them in business.

How many years did it take BR to realize that if you put the B in front of the R it automatically had a 31 in the middle?

I've never seen that flavor here in So Cal, where my lemon trees hang heavy with fruit as I type this.

Waaaa.

My best friend LOVES B&R's lemon custard ice cream, but we live in southern California, and B&R don't serve that flavor here any more (I think it died out in the 1970s).

Similarly, I LOVE their Mississippi Mud flavor, but that one only shows up sporadically -- and briefly -- in SoCal.

A few years ago, we happened to be in Kansas City, MO on a particularly cold and rainy Mother's Day.  Why that led us into a B&R at 11am is beyond me.  However, imagine our inmitigated joy upon discovering both lemon custard and Mississippi mud flavors available!  We still speak about that experience in hushed tones.

My favorite of all time was "Pink Grapefruit Ice"   

It was a standard flavor for many years in SoCal, and back in the 80's it became a summer season speciality here in the Louisville stores. I haven't seen it for years!!

In the summer months they have Daquri Ice, sp? It it so refreshing on a hot day.

Baskin Robbins is right next door to Benjis-the restaurant some of us are meeting at in Feb. MMMMMMMMMM!

Lemon Custard is not available in California?  Well that's not fair.  It would be perfect for topping a scoop of Rocky Road.

I think their headquarters are here in California... in Burbank.

Wonder if I could eat the grapefruit ice when taking Lipitor.

Mar52-make sure the ice cream doesnt have real grapefruit juice in it-you know we cant eat grapefruit while on that at all( kinda sucks, huh?)

Now that I can't have grapefruit (many, many years) I WANT IT!

Grapefruit is a no-no with Synthroid thyroid medication too ...

Well Hell!  That sure cemented the demise of my grapefruit eating.

Next month is 5 years since my thyroid cancer.  Synthoid daily keeps me going.
