Would "bean weather" be indicated by extremely windy conditions?

With that line of reasoning, Boston rather than ChiTown would be known as "The Windy City"!

drchanterelle, Just curious, what store in Texas did you get your beans? Was it a national or regional chain?

Ya got me? Everytime we got a chance, we'd stop in at the local grocery and pick up interesting things - never paid much attention to the name of the store. At this stage in my development, I'm fortunate if I can remember the name of my hometown grocery! jm

Maynerd, sorry for the delay. Looks like lleechef already got you fixed up, but just want to reiterate that taking the lid off for the last hour or two helps develop the "gravy" around the beans.

Maybe we should organize a Roadfood "Bean Cookoff". Sounds to me like there are LOTS of good bean cookers on this board.

We're having Bushie's Bodacious Beans tonight, by request of a 6 year old boy who's lost his first tooth today, "Mama, I want some soft Bushies tonight."

Gee whiz. I really like the taste of beans. Any kind!!! However they are not kind to the Sundancer and I do not do beans in any way.

Beano doesn't work for you, Sundancer? That's too bad. The natural way to reduce gas is to soak your beans with a big piece of kombu, or kelp. Really works. That and Beano together would stop any gas link, I should think.
