buffetbuster I just spoke to wanderingjew and he is off and running, with a meal at Allen & Son already under his belt. Did he mention how it was? Our last trip there was a disaster.... the meat had a burnt taste to it and the sauce was really off. We weren't overly impressed with our sides either. One of Barbecue Lodge's specialties is boiled potatoes...... they are cooked in a type of red sauce that is really good. Their coleslaw is the yellow typw with some mustard and sugar, finely chopped. Dennis- Funny you should mention that. He said he liked everything (pork bbq, brunswick stew, hushpuppies, sweet potato pie), but was disappointed that they didn't have boiled potatoes. Sounds like he will be able to get some tomorrow!

I came back yesterday on an early flight out of Raleigh (priceline chose the flight time not me) the upside is that I was able to return to my normal healthy eating habits yesterday. I had a great time meeting up with Dennis and his lovely wife, Wendy. And as always, it was great to see " Buffetbuster" in his extraordinary " roadfood" form. We agreed I will take the lead on the trip report however I'm certain that Buffetbuster will add quite a bit since he went to so many more places than i have.

I echo WJ's thoughts..... We had a great meet up at the Barbecue Lodge. Dennis and Wendy were fun, interesting people and I had a really good time. And the food was quite good. Thanks for suggesting the get together Dennis! Once WJ starts on his report, I will add in a few photos and comments here and there.

LOL, I have to admit that buffetbuster was on a mission. My wife and I really enjoyed meeting up with both of them and hope they enjoyed their trips down. Dennis in Cary
