Williamsburg County SC BBQ

I’m going to Kingstree on business next Friday and thought I would try out a new place - new to me - for BBQ afterwards.  I live in Charleston so it’s not hard to get to places on Hwy 41 as far as Hemingway - Moree’s, Kenny’s, Scott’s or places on Hwy 52 as far as Kingstree - Brown’s. 

Since I will have the time, I would like to try a place somewhere more remote.  I’m up for anything in the lower half of Florence County, or anywhere in Williamsburg or Berkeley Counties.  Any recommendations?

Scott's is your number one option, and you're not too far
from Sweatmans....those 2 are generally regarded as the
best 2 in SC.

Williamgsburg county bbq is STEADFASTLY vinegar and
pepper....there will be no mustard in that county, and the
bbq sauce will be hot.

Just re-read my post and realized I wasn't clear.  I've been to all the places I listed and you're right, Scott's is hands down the best.  I'm looking for some places away from 52 and 41 that I haven't made it to yet.

Also, wasn't there a bbq place in Alvin a few years ago that an ex-NFL player ran?  Know anything about that?

Have you been to Cain's on the Pamplico Hwy outside of Florence?  I think there's another place on that same road.  (I haven't been there either, just trying to wrack my brain.)

I haven't tried Cain's but will put it on the list.  I wasn't planning on going all the way to Florence, but I'm pretty sure it's less than an hour from Kingstree so no reason to rule it out.

Let me know if you think of the other place.

Then I have to ask, you've been to Duke's right?  Because there are Duke's outposts into the area around Sweatman's but I don't know the authoritative list of their locations.
