The American Legion post in Delafield, Wisconsin, about 1/2 hour west of Milwaukee, has a raccoon feed every year to benefit its youth sports programs.  Ten bucks gets you a platter of braised coon meat (tastes somewhere between corned beef and pot roast), along with mashed potatoes, sauerkraut and whatever desserts the Ladies Auxiliary is dishing up.  It's a real slice of small town Americana, and I made a video in my Sky Full of Bacon series about it here:

(Some of you may remember an earlier Sky Full of Bacon about barbecue in Taylor, Texas.)  Anyway, I recommend checking it out some year if you're anywhere in the area.

I really hope you didn't mean an actual raccoon dinner.  ;)

Oh yeah, it's real raccoon.  It's been an annual event in that part of the world for some time now.  In fact, I've had the pleasure (?) of dining on 'coon at the annual LTHForum picnic, here in Chicago.  One of the founding members of LTH is involved with the group in Wisconsin that puts on the dinner.  She regularly brings a big ol' roasting pan full of leftover pulled raccoon meat to the LTH picnic event.

Not bad really, but not my favorite choice for animal flesh either.
