New all natural Snapple Tue, 04/7/09 12:07 PM (permalink)
I had seen some commercials recently for Snapple's new all natural teas. As luck would have it, I was in Walgreen's this morning and walked over to the cooler section to pick up an Arizona Watermelon juice cocktail ( story for another post ) when I notice they had the new tea in. I picked out a Peach tea with white & black tea leaves and figured I would give it a try.

I drank the whole thing down before I got home. It was excellent, some of the best bottled tea I have tried. I read the ingredients and everything is natural... pure SUGAR, YEAHHHHHHHHHH!. I have gotten where I hate corn syrup so much I can not stand it. I even got a little pissy with my local grocery store for not carrying kosher soda for passover. LOL, go figure, me getting upset.

Anyway, I really enjoyed it and hats off to Snapple for going to sugar for their teas and lets hope that is just the start with their beverages.

i hadn't heard about the new offering...will have to keep an eye out for it!!

snapple is owned by some big conglomerate now - i can't remember which, though.  still, it's good to see that they're listening to the consumer...i, too, hate all the high-fructose corn syrup that's in just about everything these days (not just drinks, either! ).

I'm not sure it as much "listening" as it is grasping.  Snapple has gotten a lot of competition since they started marketing their overpriced beverages.  Their marketing relied on gimmicks and they went down the "trendy" marketing route.  It worked for a while, but they've lost a lot of market share.

Went to Arizona's web site.  Navigate to Products and then to Juice Blends.

I am glad to hear Snapple is using sugar. Every so often Big Lots would get some unknown brand of bottled tea made with sugar, and it would taste terrific. Return, and it was all sold out.

It sounds like you are talking about Arizona Iced Tea.

I happened to be in Walgreen's one day and went to get a soda. While looking at the teas and such I noticed the Arizona teas and saw a handful of juice cocktails. I decided to try the watermelon that day and brought it home to put on ice. Now mind you it is not like biting into a slice of ice cold watermelon with the juice running down your chin and into your mouth. It is a lite flavor with a watermelon flavor to it. It does have grape juice and I think pear as well but it is a nice, different change once in a while.

So I bought a watermelon and an Arizona Georgia peach tea to try later on. As I said, it is a nice lite watermelon tes that is also good in an "adult beverage" .   I mix it with ice cold Vodka ( imported potato vodka from Poland ) and crushed ice. We allow it to sit a couple of minutes and then enjoy!

Oh yeah, the watermelon cocktail pairs nicely with a white rum ( we use Appleton White )  and a dash of pineapple juice to it.

We bought a case of the new Snapple assorted flavors (Lemon/Raspberry/Peach) using a Costco Coupon last week. I have good memories of the 16 oz bottles they sold about 14 years ago...Especially the Peach Flavor.  These 20 oz bottles are ok, but I don't think we will keep them in stock at home. The fruity flavor doesn't come thru the way the old-recipe did (or maybe my memory isn't that good !!)

after i went looking for this, i realized i'd already tried it when it became available here - last year.

i agree with al, the fruit flavors aren't as evident as with their regular stuff.  in fact, the fruit flavor is even LESS evident now than it was when they first offered this product.

still, i enjoy the not overly sweet taste.

I totally agree that the flavor seems different. Could be age on us like you said Mr. Mayor.

Target has the gallon jugs of Arizona green tea with ginseng and, sweetened with Splenda for only, $2.79.

I really like the new Snapple fruit flavored green teas. Also sweetened with Splenda.

I also tried the Snapple "Naturals", last week.  No syrupy aftertaste in my mouth with the sugar this time around!  Who knows - maybe between this and Pepsi Throwback, our beverages are coming back around to the sugar road instead of the HFCS road... I know internationally, the beverages we've had overseas have sugar, and they just taste a lot better.
