Meet n' Eat at Keaton's BBQ on May 1st

On May 1st, roadfooders Wabbit, DLnWPBrown ( and his missus ) and I are meeting up for dinner at Keaton's BBQ in Cleveland NC ( just east of Statesville. ) For those not familiar with Keaton's, it is home to what is possibly the most wonderful barbequed chicken anyone ever put in their mouth. We're meeting at 6:00PM ET Friday evening, and we'd like to invite any other roadfooders in the area to join us. That includes you folks in southern Virginia and northern South Carolina ( or anywhere else, for that matter. ) Anyone out there interested in being part of our group?

For the folks that have never been there, I must say it is the finest Chicken I have ever had! They have a web siteKeatonsoriginalbbq.com and the Mac and Cheese has been called incredible. The dessert changes with what is in season, or they feel like making that day. It is a no frills kind of place, far from fancy, just great food. It is easy to find, off I-40 and follow the weathered signs. Look forward to seeing you there.

Although I can't make this get together myself, color me jealous for meeting at Keaton's.  The food is every bit as good as they say, if not better!

Wish I could be there, Bob!  That place is a true Roadfood classic.  Be sure to save room for dessert...  Chris

P.S.  On our first visit (pre-GPS), we got three different sets of directions from locals (all of whom knew the place and spoke highly of it but hadn't been in 10+ years).  We finally found it an hour later, and it was closed (pre-"Travelin Manned"), but we returned the next day, and the food was excellent.  I'd never say that it's "easy to find" if you've never been there, but it's certainly worth the drive.

Well Nocarolina  (Bob) and I had a good time at Keatons. The Chicken was great, and the company was excellent. Bob will be posting pic's when he gets back home. I hope he has a safe trip. They were out of Red Velvet cake and I thought we both were gonna cry,, but the Chicken made up for it. Looking forward to doing it again in the fall, and as always all are invited.

Glad to hear the two of you had a good time at Keaton's and I am very much looking forward to the report and photos from NC.   I have been there twice and they did not have the red velvet cake (or any dessert, for that matter) either time.

Hopefully, I will be able to sneak in my yearly visit to N.C.-I visit both Greensboro and Raleigh as I have relatives in both places....would love to meet up with all of my N.C. roadfooders...Keatons sounds great!

Wascally Wabbit, I'm afraid you made a promise that I can't keep. I have no idea how to post pictures on the internet ( heck, I'm still trying to learn how to use my digital camera. ) Maybe someday. I really enjoyed meeting you and I hope we can get together again when I'm down your way once more in September.
