MetroplexJim GeoNit Popeye's customers in Ontario are also complaining about the recent toned-down spicyness of its chicken and some of its side dishes: http://chowhound.chow.com/topics/609566 Boy, are they right. Once upon a time (the early 1980's) Popeye's not only had some real "heat" in their chicken, they also served up a good measure of "heat" in their red beans & rice and onion rings. As that was their primary "product differentiation" I am shocked that they have gone bland! Truly, they have thrown the baby out with the bath-water. I used to love two fast food chains, Popeyes and White Castle but now I am down to White Castle..Popeyes disappointed me one too many times with everything from lousy staff and worker smokers right outside to terribly diminished sides and chicken as mentioned herein....

The Popeyes I occasionally visit has been pretty consistent...I was there a couple of weeks ago because I had a craving for spicy food caused by a slight cold, and the chicken didn't disappoint me. Brad

Used to like KFC and Popeyes. Since trying El Pollo Loco, I've converted. The Crazy Chicken is better IMHO!
