This seems a bit excessive.
Finalists for State Fair's Big Tex Choice Awards include Deep Fried Butter
"On Tuesday, State Fair officials released the eight finalists for this year’s fifth annual Big Tex Choice Awards, and on the list is this gem: Deep Fried Butter. It’s exactly as it sounds, butter that’s seasoned, battered up and deep-fried. For those counting, a stick of butter has 810 calories— before it’s deep-fried."

Hey. It's State Fair food. We all have absolution when partaking.

I like butter, but this just might push the envelope to far.

What I heard is that they whip the butter. Then season it with a variety of seasonings, some savory, some sweet. Somehow batter it and deep fry it at that point.

Good Lord.  Does it come with a complimentary Lipitor and Prilosec chaser?

I'd rather have deep fried olive oil.

I'm sure most of those calaories melt away with the butter before it reaches the plate. I'm sure of it.

I actually enjoyed the deep-fried butter at the TX State Fair on opening day this year.  It was AWESOME!  If you like biscuits with loads of melted butter then you would LOVE this.  This bread dough is deep fried until it's light brown (like a biscuit) and then sprinkled w/powdered sugar (optional.)  You can also have your choice of cherry or grape jelly on top (again, optional.)  So, it's like eating a biscuit w/melted butter and jelly, only BETTER.  I would have had seconds if I hadn't been so full from other Fair foods that day.  I might have to go back once more this year!

Well, they've deep fried everything else; they might as well deep fry this.  Sounds interesting.

I misread the title and it got me thinking. Little molten balls of breaded deep fried peanut butter would be great.

That is a site I keep for a rainy day.  All sorts of interesting things including suspending sauces in spheres or deep frying them.
