bakery news for Chicago eaters

Anyone who lives in the Chicago area should know this: Elegant Farmer, the Mukwonago, Wisconsin bakery profiled on this site by Michael Stern, sells its baked goods at the Whole Foods store in Deerfield, Ill. We bought an apple pie there a few weeks ago and an apple crisp there yesterday. Quite possibly the best apple crisp I've ever been lucky enough to eat. I'm not sure if other Whole Foods stores around here carry these products, but it's definitely worth checking.

If you enjoyed the apple pie, their carmel apple is to die for. Elegant Farmer baked goods are available throughout southeastern Wisconsin. I buy them at the Southport Pantry in Kenosha and Grasch's in Brookfield.
