Have never tried it here in NC? How does it stack up to KFC or any of the other chains like Churches and the likes? Seem like they are on every other corner here.

It's pretty close to the level of 'good' spicy chicken from Popeyes..and head and shoulders above the other FF chicken...which makes it a clear ten points up on KFC. We have a couple here in the Louisville area. I still like Popeyes Spicy better.

We had them pop up here in Miami during the early 80's and they didn't last very long. I thought the chicken was quite good. At that time they served larger pieces then all of the other chains. The pieces were closer to retail size parts, not the 2lb-3lb size class that all of the other chains used. One breast made a meal. The heat didn't seem to be in the crust, but on the chicken. If you peeled away the crust, you could see tiny, red flecks as if it was in a marinade or wash. Come to think of it, I think their gimmick was "buttermilk marinaded" They had good sides and good biscuits at that time. This may have all changed 20 years later, but at that time it was our favorite choice.

What Dawn said. 25 years ago here in Miami it was my favorite fried-chicken joint. I found the chicken to be excellent, and the sides much superior to the competition. I particularly remember the tasty sweet-and-sour cole slaw, and the biscuits.

Why do you not like KFC? I find Popeyes taste nasty, maybe you need to revisit KFC you maybe into a tasteful supprise.

Chet Since I live 'almost within sight' of the home office of KFC in Louisville, I have watched unhappily as the quality of KFC has dropped over the years. As many have commented on this site, there was a time when KFC could be counted on for crispy-fresh "good" fried chicken. That may happen at some locations today, but it is a rare event, as opposed to the 'norm' for menu quality. Popeyes, like any other franchise operation (including KFC), also has a somewhat 'hit and miss' quality control problem. However we have found that their quality seems to run at a much higher level than does KFC. The taste evaluation is a subjective one. If you like KFC, fine. I happen to prefer the 'spicy' flavor of the Popeyes chicken and find that their product suits my 'wants' better than the new version of the Colonel's birds.

I lived if Fort Lauderdale in the Mid 1980s and There were Bojangles in FLL and I loved their Chicken. Around 1988 they started to disappear from south florida. What happened.

Best chain chicken around here along with Chicken Express out of Texas and Chic Fil A for sandwiches. Their parts are larger than ost of the competition. Good biscuits for a chain.

I can remember Chicken Delight,or Delite, when we lived in Alaska. Best fried chicken i ever at was down on Broadway near San Antonio's Witte Museum called Youngblood's.They were even in Dallas.Great chicken but gone for ages.

I've had Popeye's twice in the last six months. Once in Vero Beach and Once in Ft. Pierce, FL. Unfortunately both times were lousy so I won't be going back for a while if at all. We had one Bojangles in Kingsport, TN and used to enjoy going there occasionally.

There are two Popeye's near me (well, more than two, but I'm thinking of two in particular). One is dingy, dark, the walls and floors are a bit dirty, and the quality control is, to say the least, low. The other is clean, bright, and the employees make sure everything is done right. Punch line: they are both owned by the same guy. Bart

Looks like the nearest Bojangles to me is about 100 miles away in the Orlando area. I wouldn't object to stopping in if in the area and in the mood for chicken.
