Goober Burger? (Wheel Inn, elsewhere?) - Thu, 10/15/09 12:28 PM ( #1 )
I have always wanted to try a good Goober Burger. I know the original was Wheel Inn, which as I hear was closed but has reopened elsewhere.

I also just found this one from My Sister's Place in Minnesota:

I added my own peanut butter to my burger at Al's Place and I enjoyed the Elvis Burger at the Vortex in Atlanta but does anyone know other great places to try a true Goober Burger?

That's peanut butter! A Goober Burger is with peanut butter (and mayonnaise, although I think I'd have that on the side).  Here it is on Bizarre Foods.

kennyb, yeah the original close but apparently an employee opened another one recently:

I'd love to hear what you think of the place if you make it out there.

i wondered when the state would take the place. they just kept on widening the intersection and it got pretty close to the building. and it was hard to get in and out there. very busy intersection. i will go that way to the lake sometime just to try the new place.

I only made it to the Wheel Inn for a guberburger once, but it was well worth the detour.  Here is an old thread about Wheel Inn closing, including a link to a newspaper article concerning the new place.

The new Wheel Inn sits about three blocks south of the old location on U.S. 65, on the east side of the street.

While it is wonderful that the guberburger lives on, I miss the old unique shaped building.

You can get a solid Goober Burger at the Trailcenter Lodge. On the Gunflint Trail out of Grand Marais, MN.  The Trailcenter has awesome food.  Check it out.
