Read all about it!  http://finance.yahoo.com/news/Iceland-says-goodbye-to-the-apf-2609404079.html?x=0&.v=6

It's hard to believe there were only three locations in that country!

It is more a sign of their horrid economy. The value of their currency has dropped tremendously. The stock market has dropped 90%. Three of the major banks have collapsed. This, combined with their 25% sales tax, a big mac isn't the only thing that has become economically out of reach. Our local news made it sound like the people of Iceland rejected McDonald's because it was not a healthy food choice, and that simply isn't true.

I agree with Tony, this isn't the people rejecting the Golden Arches, this is just another sign of how bad things have gotten up there.

If McDonald's is popular in China, France and Italy but is leaving Iceland I doubt it has anything to do with the food.

The US Navy used to have a naval air station at Kelfavik that closed in September 2006. I wonder how many Americans used to eat at McDonalds. That base did have a Wendy's, however.

With the McDonald's franchisee having to bring in stuff from Germany, he was as bad off as the Navy having to bring in Wendy's food from the states. It will be interesting to see what food the owner serves when he goes independent.
