Hot Dog Brands - Wed, 11/4/09 6:35 PM ( #1 )
I've seen on a few forums and blogs of finding a list of different hot dog brands.
I spent some time compiling such a list with links if one was available.
If you know of any I missed, please let me know.
Here is the list: "http://thegourmetchilidog.com/hotdogbrands_01.html

Old Neighborhood is a popular N/C frank in MA and NH.

There are several brands made by Kayem that are found throughout the northeast. Schonland's, Essem, Deutschmacher, McKenzie and Jordan's that come to mind.

Web site for Ferris Stahl-Meyer:
http://stahlmeyer.com/history

They have been around a long time. Their hot dog brands are Sweet Meadow and Stahl-Meyer. Their deli slicing beef bolonga and salami still has that strong garlic aroma that will permeate your refrigerator.

No listing for Oscar Mayer? Maybe friends don't let friends eat Oscar Mayer.

Saugy's is a Rhode Island brand. I have never seen them for sale in Brooklyn.

Thanks all

I wish I had the time for a section for reviews.

Anyone is welcome to post a brand with their review.

When I see, or someone tells me about a new brand, I'll add it to the list.
It's now at 80 brands

This place doesn't have a web site, and now that they closed their Ridgewood Queens location a couple of years back, is a one store operation, so not sure if they fit your bill...but they make a great hot dog!

Forest Pork Store does a lot of wholesale, and their franks are sold by a lot of independent meat markets, and other food stores in the NYC metro area. The Ridgewood store, now used for manufacturing, used to have a sign in the window saying you could call in an order to Huntington for pickup at Ridgewood, but not sure if that option is still available.

The Hot Brands page has been updated.

It now has over 78 different brands.

I would like to add the local butcher shop that make their own hot dogs.
