Tonight (3/21/10) - Old Towne Serbian Gourmet House
Sun, 03/21/10 9:53 AM
I moved this here to increase visibility.
We're up at 5 am Monday so if you're interested in dining early, 5 pm? or so, we'd be in.
Since we just ate at Jack Pandls, we probably wouldn't join you there. We loved our entrees and I think it certainly is worth a drive for you if that's your choice. If you'd be interested in Old Town Serbian Gourmet House, we'd be in. I'll include a link for our daily newspaper dining review which just came out 2 weeks ago. http://www.jsonline.com/features/dining/87360357.html
Here's their offer:
Old Town Serbian Gourmet Restaurant - 3 for $25 Menu
First Course Here's the link to the offer which should allow you to get driving directions. If you do want to dine here, it's an easy drive with the restaurant very close to I-94. The surrounding area has seen its better days but it is not an unsafe neighborhood. Parking is street parking only. http://marketplace.milwaukeemarketplace.com/restaurants/milwaukee/wi/old+town+serbian+gourmet+restaurant/86849
Soup of the Day
Serbian Tomato Salad (Tomatoes, peppers, onions & feta cheese)
Burek (Filo leaves stuffed with choice of cheese, beef, or spinach)
Sarma (Soured cabbage stuffed with meats and simmered)
Stuffed Grape Leaves (Stuffed with meat, rice, & herbs)
Serbian Musaka (Eggplant layers and beef baked)
Mediterranean Stuffed Peppers (Stuffed with couscous, pinenuts, chickpeas, olives, feta, and herbs in a light tomato sauce)
Beograd Burger/Plescaivcia (Beef, veal, pork & lamb ground & mixed with herbs & spices, serbian cheese on flatbread)
Palachinka (Crepes stuffed with apricot walnut, strawberry, or Chocolate-Hazelnut)
It's a good sized restaurant so the number in our party shouldn't throw them for a loop. Most every Serb that owns a place in Milwaukee worked here at one time, including Ilija.
