Foot long dogs, no foot long rolls

I want to sell foot long dogs but it's virtually impossible to find foot long rolls around here, any suggestions?

I always think I am getting a bargain when the dog sticks out at both ends. 

I'll bet if you get 8" rolls no one will complain---just tell them you ran out of 8" dogs. 

Or cut 'em in half so you have 2-6" dogs and put them side by side on a Hero/Sub/Hoagie roll and charge a little more.  I would buy that in a second if I happened to be around your neck of the woods, and had the buck and 1/2 you would have to charge.  Is their a senior discount ?

Schwebel's makes a nice foot-long roll that I've bought at Wegman's.  They are an Eastern Ohio/Western PA bakery, so I wonder if they are available at Giant Eagle in Frederick since GE is a chain from that same area.  Also, the folks at Kennie's Markets bakery are generally very willing to please, in my experience.  I know the one in Taneytown makes up custom orders of fastnacts (or "Kinklings" as they are called in Frederick County, don't know why) every year at Shrove Tuesday.  They might be worth checking out.

I don't know whether you have any Kroger supermarkets in your area, but they often have foot-long buns available.

I can't find my picture of it, but I also went to a place in CT where the footlong was served in a bun and a half.

Was in that Giant Eagle in Frederick recently. No Schwebel products.
 
I know H&S/Northeast Foods bakes foot longs in one of their MD/PA bakeries. Wonder Bread also bakes foot long rolls.
 
 

Ditto on Treetop Tom's suggestion of Schwebel's, a great footlong bun used at the famous Pickle Barrel in Pittsburgh.

   That and the 10-inch, New England style Freihofer bun used at Frankly Burgers and More in Freehold, N.J., are certainly the best long hot dog holders I have ever imbibed.

I have found Wonder brand foot long rolls in a local liquor store/market that i sell to.  They are affiliated with the FoodTown Supermarkets here in central NJ.

I have a special Senior discount, buy one, get the second one at full price...folks LOVE it!

talk to your bread man they are usally special order. sara lee makes them here in tn,but most large co have them. the bread outlet here
carrys them only in the summer.

Honestly, seems like it would be worse to have a foot long bun and look cheap with the meat.

A local hot dog shop sold foot-longs, and they routinely cut them in half, a practice my wonderful mom always objected to. 

"If you cut it in half, it's no longer a foot long," she protested.  "I can buy two 6-inch hot dogs anywhere!"

Moms are always right, you know.  Whenever I buy a foot-long now, it better be a foot long.

Cut in 1/2 laid side by side on a roll and called

a 1/2 ft X 1/4 ft  

or a 3 x 6

or !8 Sq Inches of delight

or let it stick out and call it ----------Get-Along-Little-Doggie

or The Meat's Too Big but the price is right.

Maybe you can get some from Subway or another sandwich place. I've often suggested that they sell hot dogs.

Failing that, talk to a bakery. I'll bet they'll be glad to get your business.

Have you looked into frozen foodservice foot long buns? Flowers' European Bakers division makes them.
Also, how about the retail bread delivery route drivers - Schmidt's & Bimbo (Weston/Stroehmann/Maier/Arnold/Thomas/Entenmann's)? Do they also deliver foodservice in your area?
