Advice for first smoker

I am interested in getting a small smoker to do a little BBQ here and there. Nothing major, just looking for nice tender meats done at home. Does anybody have advice for a simple easy to use smoker? I have been reading about an eletric water smoker as since it is eletric you can control the heat better. Never have talked to anybody who has used any type of small smoker so I don't really know where to start.
