Friday Night Dogs

On Friday evening I had two of the best hot dogs I've had in a long while, and the dogs themselves were terrible, the mustard was that yucky yellow stuff and the buns were awful. Still, they were wonderful, even at two bucks a pop.
 
What is it about cheap, tasteless concession hot dogs served from an electric roaster, pre-cooked and bunned, and wrapped in paper that makes them so delicious? I guess it must  have something to do with the fact that Friday night lights, hundreds of kids milling about, not paying the  slightest bit of attention anything going on not involving their school friends and ten thousand people in the stands screaming their lungs out for their high school teams make even lousy food a gourmet treat.
 
All I know is I can't want for next Friday night's dinner at the ball field. I might even switch from coffee to hot chocolate.
