My favorite characterization of Jack in the Box (which once was owned by Purina) is "Purina People Chow."

I think that this should be posted in the fast food forum and not here.

Many years ago most taco's in Texas were made like JiB's. More meat but the same style. Some can still be found. Joe

There is a slight advantage to an advertiser, as they may entice a traveler to eat at their restaurant. The spot advertising rates for TBS must be an attractive buy for Jack in the Box even if only half the viewers live near a Jack in the Box.

Greatest except for a few places in Austin that still make a fried taco kinda like JitB. And... they stole the recipe from Texas! They were being made here long before there was a JitB. This not to imply that, at 2 for a buck, JitB a bad thing. :~) Joe

Bill, thanks for the links to those threads! HollyDolly mentioned a Tex-Mex book by Rob Walsh, on the first thread, and that he said this was the "old way of making them". He was right. This was back before it was called Tex-Mex though. And maybe back before Kansas, and Texas, were states? Now quite a few places make them the old way but maybe more correct to call it an Old Northern Mexico way of making tacos? But, someone smart at JitB did think this was a good idea of how to make a Taco. The second thread about the In a Tub tacos had pictures but to bad they no longer work. There was some good info about how to make these fried kinda Tacos on that thread! But now that you mention it... Frito Pie, Fritos, Dr. Pepper, Tex Mex, Chili Rice, and the Sausage Roll Up also came from Texas. I know I forgot a few things. :~) Joe
