Does anyone have any idea what the name of and/or where this diner/cafe is located? I believe it is in Arizona somewhere. This is for a contest. Thanks!

Sorry There is nothing in the picture that gives it away for me. I blew it up and couldnt read the business license or any of the postcards and the reflection on the Menu is too glared. It is or was still open recently the $5 bill tacked to the wall is the new design. Arizona is a good guess with the 2 styles of hot sauce the one post card is from the grand canyon and the other shows a gentleman with cattle Sorry I cant name it for you.

I say New Mexico, check the Sombreros on the wall. Also it's about 5 to eight, which definitely takes place in New Mexico twice every 24 hours!

All I know is, there are 7 tickets on the wheel and no ones in site. How long are we going to let the toast sit on the counter, It was there yesterday when I looked. I would say the Cafe is in the Southwest leaning to more of a mountain region like Colorado. They offer about 6 to 8 hot sauces with a verde and red sauce on the counter. They are having a Pan-Fried Trout for the lunch special so I figure that may be a higher cooler area. The bar stools are more of a saddle bag look and less of a Southwest look. I can't see the Cook but I bet he is about 50 years old, had a drinking problem at one time and got divorced from his first wife, he later remarried a younger waitress in the cafe. They are doing good, the older kids from the first marriage get the younger kids off to school because Mom and Dad have to open the Cafe. The cook/owners name is Joe and his wife is named Sally. There is a menu siting on the counter, the coffee cup is turned up so he did say yes when asked if he wanted coffee, I figure he is the one taking the picture. Joe sponsors the bowling team, they came in second place three years in a row, joe is hoping this is the year they take number one. Thats all I have, just an educated guess....................... The Trout in the picture is a Oncorhynchus Trout also known as an Arizona Trout. A couple of things that are wrong with this picture. The forks, knives and spoons are facing up on the back counter, they should be stored face down. The bar towel should be in a bleach bucket and not left on the counter. The spoon by the coffee pot is used and should not be left on the towel. The counter has some crumbs by the Salt and pepper.

To me it doesn't look real. The wagon wheel is the same size as the sombreros, the seat are up too high, where do you put your legs? It just looks like a set or a museum display.

My take is the place is being robbed, all the customers have been herded into the walk-in, how else to explain the toast getting cold?

Someone got a menu and turned the coffee cup over, plus their condiment bottles are much bigger than everyone elses, maybe everyone went bowling, trying to add to the already amazing trophy collection. This whole thing is very disturbing!

Joe Joe, was that the one where the guy behind the counter wore his soda fountain hat down on his forehead, only to remove it at the end, to reveal a third eye?

The board won't let me edit my last post. Another rather unsetteling aspect of this is there is no Decaf to be had and the sugar is missing from the missing menu persons setting...I'm going orange alert!

joerogo These people have been going at it to the tune of 506 pages. They are trying to win a carton of Marlboro's Actually, it's a little more than that. The ultimate winner (which will be decided by submitting tie-breaking essays if necessary) will get $1,000,000.

I don't think a restaurant in Arizona or New Mexico would be serving Louisiana green sauce.

As one who was a very short-time altar boy about 70 years ago, and as one who completed two years of High School Latin at about the same time, I have no idea what ditat deus means. But, somewhere in the foggy recesses of my brain, I remember (maybe from a crossword puzzle) that the term is the Arizona state motto, and means something like "God Provides". However, I seriously doubt those words appear on the calendar in the cafe - sizz is just trying to get us old folks to dig out the magnifying glass and waste prescious minutes on a useless search. I'm sticking with the Oklahoma city area. Cheers, John

"However, I seriously doubt those words appear on the calendar in the cafe..." They don't appear on the calendar. They are on the face of the clock which is in the upper right-hand corner of the picture. By the way, I didn't get out a magnifying glass. I just copied the picture to MS Paint, and it came out 30" by 20" (plenty large to see many of the details).

mar52 Boys? Yes Marlene, Boys.....you see in order to be a altar boy one had to be a boy..... today I suppose there are altar girls, and altar boys that want to be girls and even altar girls that want to be boys..... but alas the Catholic Mass is no longer said in Latin so altar girls and boys do not need to study Latin.... and priests are no longer relegated to molesting just boys, altar girls are now fair play... ... mea culpa, mea culpa, mea máxima culpa
