Well, I have a coupon for a free small order. It sounds like the price is right.

I wandered into the break room last week. The staff made a special trip to Wendy's just to try the new fries. My opinion, horrible fries with the skin on. Duped into thinking "Natural Cut" meant "Fresh Cut"

i thought the old ones were really good, but not these ones. too thin, not potatoey enough, and too salty. guess i'll stick with the baked potato now.

I tried the new fries for the first time last night. I was generally underwhelmed. There was something wrong about the texture of the fries. The salt change was not noticeable to me. Overall, no better than their previous fries.

Tried them today...thin, limp, nothing special. I wonder how they come up with things like this?

Like most of the other posters, I found them to be average fast food fries. I had not been to a Wendy's in 6 months or so, so without the hype, I'd have not even noticed the change.... ......and what is the big deal about sea salt

My wife and I stopped at the local Wendys before my sons band concert and we tried the fries. They might as well have served us a salt block. Way too much salt. We found them gross (as I was afraid we would) and wont be going back.

Yep. They were gross. COVERED in the salt. It was superfine salt, but still. Too much.

The "sea salt" thing sounds like BS to me. I mean, salt is salt. There is no quality difference of where the salt comes from. I haven't been in a Wendy's in years, because I live in a country that does not have them. I did like that one can pump the ketchup into cups without having to ask the staff for more. Wendy's hamburgers were OK, but not a favorite, even when Dave Thomas was alive. Kind of a gut bomb.

If Wendy's returned to the original Dave Thomas recipes and quality assurance, they wouldn't be sucking wind now. Someone there isn't smart enough to figure that out. I was a Wendy's fan once, and I don't want NEW. I want OLD.

^^Dave Thomas sold Wendy's before I even worked there back in the early 90's. We'd get customers who would be upset about something & say they didn't think Dave would like this or that. (He was still in the commercials) Seemed sort of weird to think Dave would show up & order us to make a Dave's Deluxe just because one person wanted one. Their fries tasted fine, I don't know why they felt the need to change.

Saying "salt is salt" is like saying "coffee is coffee" or "sugar is sugar". There are lots of different salts, all with different flavors and colors. I've been using Redmond Real Salt® for 15 years and would never go back to refined table salt or refined sea salt. In addition to the kitchen, I keep some in my office desk, travel bag, and briefcase. I can't count how many friends I've converted to it. I'm sure there are other sea-salters on this board.

MellowRoast I'm sure there are other sea-salters on this board. +1. I was converted to using nothing but coarse kosher sea salt about ten years ago, and the food I cook at home hasn't exactly suffered as a result. Plus, the difference in cooking with coarse sea salt is that it's easier to see the crystals, and therefore not as easy to over-salt your food. Which Wendy's is clearly doing some of time, at some locations, with the "new" fries. And let me join others in saying that I had not one single, solitary problem with Wendy's old fries.

I've been using Himalayan Pink Salt for years. It's more flavor intense, so a pinch goes a LONG way.

New Fries??? What a joke! Had some tonight and they were lousy. Limp, tasteless without salt, no skin on them to speak of, luke warm at best. Got tougher as they cooled. Their original ones were better.

I go to Wendy's once in awhile because it's the only thing within walking distance of where I work. I tried the fries the other day. They tasted pretty similar to the fries they had before. They were right out of the fryer and tasted fine. Nothing spectacular but not as terrible as some responses here would indicate. Maybe if you got bad ones they were sitting there for awhile or they weren't cooked long enough. I don't know. Average fast food fries like somebody else said.

They weren't even freshly cooked either!

Well, I sampled the thin new "natural-cut" fries tonight and was not impressed. Mine were freshly fried, but absolutely flavorless. (There was probably more flavor in the paper pouch they came in.) I prefer the original fries, the original bun, and the original hot & juicy burger.

I didn't know there were un-naturally cut fries. I guess just another dumb marketing term. I've never been to a single Wendy's that I thought was good. The food is universally served cold

It's just a marketing gimmick - same old frozen potato item, but slightly cheaper to produce by not removing (all of) the skin. and as for the sea salt - can anyone with a straight face really say it tastes anything different from regular table salt?

They're not very good. I don't care for any of the FF biggies MCD, BK, Wendy's fries.

mjambro and as for the sea salt - can anyone with a straight face really say it tastes anything different from regular table salt? Yes, with a straight face, it absolutely does, unless it's gone through the same refining and bleaching processes as table salt.
