For really fine harmony listen to The Beach Boys version of We Three Kings.

mbrookes,
Thanks so much for reminding me about The Beach Boys version of We Three Kings.  I immediately went to youtube to listen to it.  I love to heard harmonies from same family groups- the Beach Boys, the Everly Brothers.  I love that DNA harmony.

I'm remembering George Winston's fabulous piano Holiday CD, "DEcember"
But tis the season now for Auld Lange Syne.
Besides Guy Lombardo, whose your fav? (I know this is the bonus round question).
(I said I have weird taste - I have 41 versions of OLS on my iTunes).
(from Beach Boys to James Taylor to YoYo Ma to a  Reggae version to Bonnie Rideout - a real Scottish version)
(and don't miss Regina Spektor's "My Dear Acquaintance")

It is recorded kind of low so you may have to turn your speakers up some.

I'm listening to their 'Silver Bells' on the YouTube right now - quite nice.
One of my favorites is Louis Armstrong's "What a Wonderful Christmas" - a compilation of his and others' tunes, mostly from the '50s. There's Mel Torme singing his 'Christmas Song' live in the wee hours at a Sunset Strip club, Eartha Kitt's 'Santa Baby' which IMO stands up fine to massive airplay, Louis Jordan being uncharacteristically mellow and sweet, and Louis himself giving us "Christmas in New Orleans", "'Zat You, Santa Claus?" and more...just buy this album, I'm serious!

' You're a Mean One, Mr. Grinch' is a modern classic - I want to mash it up with Gershwin's "It Ain't Necessarily So.'
For novelty songs I like 'I Got a Cold For Christmas' by the Three Stooges in their tv-age revival. How can you not like the lyrics:
All the other girls and boys
Ran downstairs to get their toys
But all I did was sneeze and sniff
                    And use my Christmas handkerchief

I am a frequent reader and rarely post unless I have something to truly contribute. This is it. I am very much a traditionalist when it comes to holiday music, but this song makes me sing loud whenever I hear it. If you check it out on You Tube, feel love for the dated-ness of the video. This song gets turned up, and makes my heart happy: Mary's Boy Child by Boney M.
