Killer Shrimp

Great news in Marina del Rey! Killer Shrimp is returning. Although I never ate at The Organic Panificio Cafe, the Marina Del Rey faux-Italian restaurant, I'm sorry to see them go. I don't like seeing any place close its doors. However, Killer Shrimp will be reopening in this location that was once the home to Harbor House and Edie's Diner. (I miss the bad diner food that was Edie's) Get your bread ready... KILLER SHRIMP!

We expect an update and photos from you Marlene. If you remember, I tried to go to Killer Shrimp, and not only was it closed, there was a replacement restaurant there already!

It is a nice location. I remember going to Killer Shrimp way back in the past. The upstairs location on Santa Monica Bl. was OK, but the parking lot was a PITA! I much will prefer going to MDR-----if I remember the parking at the Harbor House was pretty good.

That was the place Ed, upstairs on Santa Monica. When I arrived it was Aunt Kizzy's.

The upstairs location was on Washington Bl in Marina del Rey. As I hear it, they lost their least... Aunt Kizzy's was going to pay more. I can't wait until they reopen. I liked it when Aunt Kizzy's was right across the street from home. Now it's out of mind which is probably a good thing because it's so rich.

I don't know. Peel & Eat shrimp should be ice cold after having been steamed in beer, and they should be dipped into a sauce made to your taste, by yourself, with horseradish and catsup supplied by the establishment. That's the way they did it at Kelly's in Houston, and that's the way I've loved it since the '50s. Oh, and there should be enough horseradish in the sauce to cause your head to sweat and your nose to run.

The one I remember was on Santa Monica Bl. in Westwood, but it closed many years ago. Somewhere east of Sepulveda if I remember correctly. But that dates me-----it was a long time ago!

Don, that is the Washington Bl location. I don't doubt Chewingthefat's location. I just didn't know about it. They also had a Studio City location that never made it. It had a very different feel to it and I swear, the food seemed different.

I drive by the hopeful location every now and then looking for some hint of life. So far it's just sitting, empty. Don't worry, though. I will be the first to let you know if it really happens. HOPING!

The only thing on the internet refers to the old Washington Blvd location. No new info yet that I can find. Every rating I saw gave them 5 stars! EDIT: I take that back! I found this on Chowhound: Killer Shrimp will return! After a very long hiatus a new Killer Shrimp restaurant and bar will be located at the old Organic Panificio site at 4211 Admiralty Way in Marina Del Rey, not far from their old location on Washington Blvd. Their grand opening is set for August 19. Shrimp lovers everywhere rejoice. The Organic Panificio Cafe and Restaurant 4211 Admiralty Way, Marina Del Rey, CA 90292 Mar52 & Edsails: That's next Friday! Mark your calendar and give us a report
